ABSTRACT

In this section, the phenomenon of cross-talk from transmission lines coupling electromagnetically is derived from Maxwell’s theory. To facilitate the discussion of cross-talk, the concepts of mutual capacitance, mutual impedance, and mutual inductance are introduced; see, for example, References [4,5,7,9]. The concept of mutual coupling leads naturally to the study of multiconductor transmission lines. Indeed, a glimpse into the concept of crosstalk was introduced in Chapter 5; in particular, see Exercise 5.4.4.
