ABSTRACT

Defining Best Practices Some people debate that the operational definition of best practices can have different meanings:

◾ The current standard, which is based on the best-known way of doing something

◾ One of a number of great methods that are endorsed and accepted by the industry

◾ Situation-specific founded on specified criteria in a particular occupation ◾ The preferred way of doing something based on popular opinion ◾ The agreed-on approach based on expert analysis of how something should

be done

The goal of looking at what is good versus not good in the context of best practices is to discover what meets versus does not meet the expectations of the professional associations and professional organizations, certification solutions providers (CSPs), certificants, and accrediting agencies (i.e., National Commission for Certifying Agencies, NCCA).
