ABSTRACT
Chapter 4 introduced the generic steps for deploying a simple Web application onto a cloud service such as Amazon EC2 and Windows Azure. However, the procedure for deploying geoscience applications onto cloud services is much more complicated. This chapter introduces the common complexities of typical geoscience applications, demonstrates how to handle these complexities when deploying geoscience applications onto cloud services, and includes two practical examples.
