Source documents include basic background, specific sources used, and other related reference materials that bolster the initial data. While every document reviewed was used for this book, the importance of the information could not be discounted as the methods used by other collectors apply also to China. Some data confirmed other sources, while further data in a given subject area supported or provided alternative views or interpretative versions of the baseline information.
