ABSTRACT

Terrorist incidents have been going on in the United States for many years. However, the incidence and severity increased during the 1990s. For 17 years, the Unabomber baffled law enforcement officials and spread terror throughout the United States. Some of the bombs were sent through the mail in packages, and others were planted at target facilities. Eight of the bombings occurred on the west coast, five in the Chicago area, two each on the east coast and Salt Lake City areas, and one in Nashville, Tennessee. Primary bombing targets were universities, corporate and government facilities, and their personnel. Devices constructed by the Unabomber were carefully crafted pipe bombs.
