ABSTRACT

Training prepares users to operate and get the most from equipment. It is an integral part of providing optimal diagnosis and therapy, and minimises safety error risks to patients and other staff. Training varies significantly in scope, from showing end users how to operate a few functions on simple devices to equipping technical support staff with the comprehensive technical and operational knowledge they need to work with and repair complex equipment. This range is illustrated in Figure 7.1. Adequate resources and a systematic approach are required to plan, deliver and record training locally, supported by a good knowledge of who needs training and how it can be delivered. Local training is underpinned by wider education and training and input from equipment manufacturers and suppliers.
