ABSTRACT
Epidemiology • Common in females 30-60 • Unknown etiology • Risk factors: - Venous stasis or insufficiency - Certain drugs - Pressure - Trauma
• Results from inflammation and hemorrhage of superficial papillary dermal vessels, typically capillaries
Clinical Features • Usually asymptomatic with minimal pruritis, and lesions usually present as petechiae or patches, not purpura. • Eruptions favor the lower extremities. • Lesions range from “cayenne pepper” red to yellow or brown.
