ABSTRACT
It is commonplace for biologists to record more than one quantitative variable at an experimental unit. For instance, soil pH and percent nitrogen are often measured at each site where soils are sampled. We may be interested in how, or if, these variables are associated. For example, do pH and percent N increase together, does pH increase as percent N decreases, or does pH remain unchanged as percent N changes?
