ABSTRACT

To this point, we have discussed systems-based thinking, drawn a skeleton value stream map, created a Plan for Every Part (PFEP) while understanding the maximum and minimum levels of the purchased parts supermarket, and designed a production area and a material delivery route. The next step is to determine why the running of work-in-process (WIP) parts is important and how the area can schedule itself so that production control does not have to be involved in every decision in every area.
