ABSTRACT

Introduction As argued throughout this book, “involving a wide range of groups…helps win support, raise awareness and build capacity within key organizations and communities. The investment up-front is substantive, but the results will be rewarding” (Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific 2001, p. 4). While the previous chapters have explored stakeholder collaboration from more theoretical and case-based perspectives, this chapter explores the practical techniques necessary to encourage and support effective collaboration within a multi-stakeholder environment. The tools presented here have a wide array of applications, but not all tools will be appropriate for all stakeholder audiences. Table 5.1 provides an overview of each of the tools presented in this chapter.
