ABSTRACT
Question marks have continued to be raised over most aspects of phosphates including the sustainability of phosphate resources, the environmental impact of processing of phosphates, and the health issues associated with the use of phosphate products. Many of the greater concerns are with issues that do not directly involve the puri-cation of phosphoric acid and the production and use of its derivative products; however, the whole phosphate industry is inextricably intertwined.
