ABSTRACT

Of the alkaline earth phosphates (Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba), the calcium phosphates are produced in the largest volumes and have received the most academic study, particularly in the eld of dentistry and general physiology [1]. From an industrial standpoint, much of the academic study is informative rather than denitive, for example, when considering tooth decay or the deposition of plaque, the investigator is working in a pH range of 5-8 and molar concentrations in the range 0.001-0.1 M; by contrast, industrial processes operate at molar concentrations between 1 and 4 M and the full pH range.
