ABSTRACT
Cancer, obesity, and diabetes are the defining plagues of our generation. It has become clear that their epidemics are escalating in recent years. And the simultaneous escalation suggests an evolutionary underpinning for cancer, obesity, and diabetes. Being closely related to these diseases, it is quite possible that the biological functions of the PI3K-AKT-TOR pathway have been shaped by evolution.
