ABSTRACT
In-plane loading N x , N y , N xy , of symmetric laminates induces only in-plane stress σ x , σ y , σ xy , in the interior of the laminate. Near the free edges, interlaminar stresses σ z , σ yz , σ xz , are induced due to the imbalance of the in-plane stress components at the free edge.
