ABSTRACT

As shown in Section 9.3, the rst quantity of importance when comparing arrays is QCAP, and this gives a measure of the atomic beam collimation produced by individual capillaries that form the array. In addition, QFRAC takes account of the parameter f, the fractional open area of a capillary array. Finally the overall quality of the array is given by QARRAY, which takes its diameter D into consideration. Thus QARRAY takes account of the number of capillaries contributing to the atomic beam.
