ABSTRACT
INTRODUCTION In many countries, pet cats outnumber pet dogs. This includes the USA, the UK, and emerging growth countries in AustralAsia, such as China1. With the growth in cat numbers has come the demand from cat owners for ‘best medicine’. In 1970 the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) was initiated with the goal of improving the health and welfare of cats by supporting high standards of practice, continuing education, and scientific investigation.
