ABSTRACT

AHT OPPORTUNITIES IN A CLIENT COMMUNICATIONS ROLE In the majority of veterinary practices, the AHT conducts preadmission assessments, administers hospitalization patient management, and discharges patients. It is the AHT who has the greatest contact time with both the pet owner and the pet. In most circumstances, the pet owner feels more comfortable in discussions with the AHT than with the attending veterinarian. It is important for the AHT to set the groundwork for professional-client communication in companion animal practice. Accordingly, the AHT plays an important role in establishing the image of the hospital and gaining confidence of the clientele as well as ensuring well-being of the patient.
