ABSTRACT
Before you can embark on basic wound care, you need to have an understanding of
the skin and how it heals. Skin is the largest organ in the body – about two square
metres in volume, weighing about six pounds. It basically keeps the outside out and
the inside in! There are three layers in skin and each has specific functions.
