ABSTRACT

In this chapter, we will examine five cases involving cop-killers aged thirty-five to thirty-nine. The cases include:

• Hydra Lacy, Jr., who killed an officer who found him hiding in the attic during a warrant service operation and then killed a second police officer who attempted to rescue his fallen colleague

• Carlos Boles, who killed an officer during a warrant service operation

• Jerry Lard, who executed an officer during a traffic stop • Bennie Brown, who murdered an officer who came to his

home to arrest him for murdering his girlfriend • Henry Smith, Jr., who killed an officer while fleeing from the

scene of a bank robbery We will see that this group continues to be influenced by two major

themes: failure of both interpersonal and professional relationships and a history of engagement in criminal lifestyles. Every offender in this group was facing the same set of consequences: imminent arrest for a serious crime.
