ABSTRACT

Having behind us all of the investigations that are connected with statistical diagnostics (previous chapter), we now presume that the data in hand are a classical random sample.

If so, we can make an evaluation of this information in the sense of an estimation of the selected numerical characteristics as well as in the sense of certain functions which will describe the data that were obtained well. The parameters of first choice in the engineering world are: the expected value and the standard deviation. These parameters are well-known, communicative and contain significant, useful information.
