ABSTRACT

The author of this text as an initial practitioner was a consultant for quality initiatives and later an academic researcher of the philosophies and description of the growth and emergence of the eld both from a personal and a historical perspective. For example, some initial training of Six Sigma I experienced (Juran’s Six Sigma) did not initially include statistics except for defect determination at the initial sigma-level but had an underpinning that would easily allow for statistical tools such as multi-variable analysis tools [ANOVA, linear regression, and statistical process control (SPC)] to be easily integrated.
