ABSTRACT

Calculations or estimations of costs against benefits can be carried out in different ways by considering various types of cost or benefit, and this is often referred to in terms of whole life cycle costing, cost-benefit analysis, or cost-benefit-risk analysis. Life cycle costs (LCCs) may be used as a valuable tool for assessment of the cost-effectiveness of various technical solutions for an optimal durability design. It may also be used for assessment of various technical solutions for condition assessment, maintenance, and repair strategies during operation of the structure.
