ABSTRACT
Aside from the dog, the horse is a human’s best friend. Sayings such as “the world’s happiness rests on a horse’s back” signal this close relationship and are evidence of our appreciation of the horse. Can the horse, however, always perceive the way it is treated by human beings in our society as fortunate?
