ABSTRACT
This chapter focuses on mechanical systems formed by springs, masses, and dashpots (also called pistons or dampers). Many systems are formed by these three elements. The chapter begins looking at the physical law that is used, as well as element equations and other experimental facts necessary to develop the models.
