ABSTRACT

In the following, we deal with numerical experiments that are related to applications to multiscale expansions.

We deal with different applications in

• Rigid body theory, • Fluid dynamics applications, • Reaction-diffusion problems, • Plasma dynamics (Langevin equation), • Deposition problems, • Sputtering applications, • Transport-reaction problems. Such problems are related on different spatial and temporal scales, such

that we have to apply multiscale methods; see [73] and [168]. The examples can be divided into two different types of multiscale appli-

cations:

• Type A: Problems with local defects or singularities, e.g., shocks, dislocations, and boundary layers; for such problems, the macro-scale model is sufficient and the micro-scale model is only needed for the local problems around singularities or boundaries or heterogeneities.
