ABSTRACT
Previous chapters discussed various supporting technologies for mining. As part of this discussion some architectural aspects were also discussed. For example, one can consider data management and data warehousing to be part of the middleware for data mining. Machine learning and statistics are part of data mining. Then decision support is built on top of data mining. Furthermore, visualization and parallelization are utilized by data mining. We will revisit these issues in this chapter and also address functional as well as system architectures.
