ABSTRACT
The product gas, mixed with the by-product chlorine, is stripped from the solution by a current of air and passed into water. The chlorine dioxide dissolves, and most of the chlorine does not; the latter is absorbed in a second column containing alkali. Developed by W.H. Rapson at Hooker Chemical Corporation and operated at Springhill, LA, from 1961.
