ABSTRACT
Cocaine is a benzoic acid derivative. There are also anesthetics that are p-aminobenzoic acid derivatives such as procaine, benzocaine, and anilide derivatives, including lidocaine. In addition to general anesthetics, there are also numerous local anesthetics such as dibucaine ointments and benzocaine cream, plus topical anesthetics such as tetracaine solution and ophthalmic solutions such benoxinate hydrochloride.
