ABSTRACT

Fermentative H2 production is a complex process under the inuence of several physicochemical factors. Type of reactor has a major effect on the nal yield of the product, especially in the case of photofermentative/biophotolytic process as it determines the amount of light and agitation received by the light-dependent organisms growing inside the reactor. Therefore, an additional chapter (Chapter 8) has been completely dedicated to discuss all the aspects of photobioreactor design and operation and their effect on hydrogen production.
