ABSTRACT

Hazardous waste transportation comprises a key component of the comprehensive cradle-tograve Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) program for the management of hazardous wastes. Transportation most commonly involves transferring from the point of generation to an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-registered treatment, storage, and disposal facility (TSDF). Transportation is a signicant potential source of releases to the environment and exposure to workers and the public; hence, regulations addressing proper waste shipping procedures are numerous and comprehensive.
