ABSTRACT

We, however, are no longer in the nineteenth century. Very few of us earn our pay by performing routine physical tasks, day after day. We are in the third wave of the Information Revolution. Yet, we still use the same outdated carrot-and-stick model of motivation. Many (but not all) workers these days have levels of problem solving, innovating, continuous learning, and decision making in their jobs that their great-grandparents could have never even imagined.
