ABSTRACT

Two-dimensional shallow water flow in channels with bed variations To model two-dimensional (2D) flow in channels with bed variation, the depth and bed level variations must be accounted for. To maintain the well balance property (that is to avoid bed level change generated flows) of the numerical scheme, a form of the two-dimensional shallow water flow equations that is suitable for channels with bed variations is presented. The application of the slope limiter and flux approximation for this form of equations is described. The resulting model is tested using laboratory and natural channel flows.
