ABSTRACT

After assembling the governing field equations, we consider in Part B the formulation of certain key boundary value problems. We first develop in detail two basic formulations of boundary value problems for linear elastic materials, (i.e., the displacement formulation and the stress formulation). We go next to the linear elastic-linear viscoelastic correspondence principle, which enables us to relate problem formulations and solutions for these two materials via the Laplace transform. Finally, we consider some useful analogies between problem formulations for nonlinear viscous behavior, nonlinear elasticity, and plasticity.
