ABSTRACT

Here is a simple question with profound implications: Where and how do most technology workers learn about IP?

Here is the answer for the vast majority: on the job and on the fly.

Precious few technology workers actually arrive at their place of employment prepared to work with IP-patents in particular. This situation is unfortunate, but it’s not surprising. There are very few substantive college courses offered on IP. Most graduate-level engineering schools offer no IP-related classes. Only a small fraction of business schools offer a serious IP course.
