ABSTRACT
Sustainability, in the context of the planning of buildings, is quantified in terms of various measures of environmental, social, and economic performance. In the UK, offices and public buildings are assessed using BREEAM, and housing and residential buildings are assessed to the government’s Code for Sustainable Homes (CfSH, 2010). Similar sustainability assessment procedures exist in other countries, such as Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) in the United States.
