ABSTRACT

The previous chapters have explored various components of leadership and demonstrated the enormity of the task when the role is taken seriously to effect positive change and future possibility. We know that working in the healthcare industry can be incredibly rewarding. However, at the same time, it is also both emotionally and physically demanding, so ensuring that practitioners have healthy proactive support and development opportunities is vital. The challenges in the healthcare environment have increased over the years, with a more rapid rate of change, increasing regulation, the need for compliance with targets and directives, and rising expectations from patients alongside greater public scrutiny.
