Leadership There has long been an argument as to whether a leader is born or created. Riggio (2009) surmised that one-third of leaders are born and two-thirds are made. What is clear is that leadership is a complex process requiring the leader to be open to and embrace change; to have excellent interpersonal skills, especially in the area of communication; and to have the ability to develop and inspire a vision with the intention of positive social/contextual gain while valuing what is important to the team in order to motivate and develop them to fully contribute and add value.
