ABSTRACT
The two principal ways to upgrade lagoon effluents are solids removal methods and modifications to the lagoon process. The selection of the best method to achieve a desired effluent quality depends on the design conditions and effluent limits imposed on the facility. The advantages and limitations of the various methods are discussed in Sections 5.1 and 5.2. Process modifications for nitrogen removal are discussed in Chapter 4.
