ABSTRACT

The photographs show the time interval shots of an experimental debris flow. The material laid uniformly to the height of the thick black line drawn parallel to the bed was soaked with water prior to the experimental run, and water flow was suddenly started from the upstream end to generate a debris flow. The forefront has an obvious snout shape and the rear part flows with a flatter slope than the original bed slope. The flow proceeds from left to right and time elapses from the upper to lower photographs.
