ABSTRACT
The photograph shows the situation of a debris flow that advanced overflowing and depositing its boulder-rich front part onto the terrace at the left-hand side of the Atsumari River, in the Hogawati area ofMinamata City, Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan. The debris flow occurred in July, 2003. Details of that debris flow will be discussed in Chapter 7.
