ABSTRACT

The term photosynthesis describes the process by which some living beings can meet their energy and nutrient needs using solar radiation and inorganic matter. One of the prominent features of photosynthetic organisms is their ability to transform little reactive inorganic molecules, CO2 and H2O mainly, in reduced organic compounds that can be used as building blocks for all living things. Photosynthesis is a widespread phenomenon on Earth and is present in a variety of habitats and organisms. This remarkable adaptability allows photosynthetic organisms to thrive in the all oceans and most of land habitats, from tropical forests to deserts.
