ABSTRACT

Most of us use fuels in our daily lives in two ways: for transportation and for domestic comfort-heating and cooking. Many kinds of fuels are used for domestic heating. These include liqueed petroleum gas (LPG), fuel oil, and kerosene, all of which are made from petroleum, natural gas, coal, and wood. Some people live in “all electric” homes with electric heating, but as we’ll see in later chapters, most of the electricity that we use is generated in power plants that burn coal, petroleum products, or natural gas.
