ABSTRACT

The latest advancements in molecular biology have affected different elds in the medical sciences. As a result of this scientic revolution, new therapeutic possibilities arise from pharmacogenomics, considering the individual’s personal needs as well as his or her response to personalized treatments. Based on its intrinsic complexity, aging is one of the most signicant biological processes that can be favored by personalized therapies. Skin represents an exposed organ where the signs of the aging process become apparent, and it is composed of a barrier that must be transposed for the efcient action of topical treatments, as proposed by cosmetic products. Nanotechnology is another scientic improvement that can be considered to ght skin aging, favoring the absorption of specic components and its distribution among skin layers. This chapter evaluates possible applications of new technologies for skin aging control and perspectives that introduce cosmetic innovations in the era of molecular biology.
