ABSTRACT

Selection of air clearances in power systems in relation to voltage stresses to which such clearances are exposed is a fundamental part of insulation coordination (IEC 60071-1, 1993). This has to consider not only the types and severity of overvoltages and the insulation configuration but also the prevailing environmental conditions, including air density and humidity.
