ABSTRACT
Coal is a combustible black or brownish-black sedimentary rock normally occurring in layers or veins referred to as coal beds or coal seams. It is composed primarily of elemental carbon along with variable quantities of other elements-chie¦y hydrogen, with smaller quantities of sulfur, and even smaller quantities of oxygen and nitrogen.
