ABSTRACT
Although the materials used in concrete structures and their design play an essential role in ensuring durability, a number of on-site construction activities may also be necessary to achieve appropriate durability performance. Some of these activities ensure the achievement of the potential properties of a concrete mix through good practice – such as following the use of appropriate curing procedures – whereas others involve the use of specific techniques that enhance performance. These aspects of the construction process are discussed in the next sections.
