ABSTRACT
Two techniques of safety analysis are outlined. These are barrier analysis and work safety analysis. Barrier analysis (Trost and Nertney, 1 985) focuses on the transfer of harmful energy to vulnerable objects (e.g. people) , establishing what barriers should have been in place to prevent the accident, or could be installed to increase safety.
