ABSTRACT

Techniques for addressing workload issues have until recently involved timeline analysis and lengthy assessment of operator performance using simula tors , or prototypes of the design conducted at an advanced stage in development. This can be extremely labour intensive, and problems identified late in the design cycle can be expensive to solve. Techniques are now becoming available which will allow workload issues to be addressed earlier. Although two other case studies are included in the Guide which deal with workload assessment, this particular case study seeks to demonstrate how workload may be predicted at a relatively early stage, using a simulation computer package.
