ABSTRACT

The Pre-construction Safety Report (PCSR) for Sizewell ' B ' nuclear power station explicitly identified over 50 operator actions which might have to be undertaken to ensure that the plant could be operated safely, or could be safely shutdown following a fault. This case study reports on how these safety actions were analysed using a uniform task analytical approach, and it also demonstrates the utility of using a standardized reporting format which enables quick and easy information transfer to potential end-users of the analysis. To achieve this, much effort was directed towards developing a method of reporting the analysis which, as far as possible, ensured that a diverse group of end-users could easily deter mine which parts of the report were particularly relevant to them.
