ABSTRACT
Using this approach, the dissertation committee serves as a proxy for your coinvestigators and mentors on your future grants. The proposal defense serves as a proxy for a grant proposal presentation. Input from the committee can be considered similar to receiving reviewer comments. Responding to such comments will give the graduate student valuable experience with the most challenging task that they will face in the future as grant writers.
